Energy Efficiency

Our industry has recognized the need to implement “best practice” energy systems and technology, through deployment of cost effective and sustainable solutions and have channeled significant resources into determining the methods to best achieve this end. The emergence of chilled water beams, mixed mode air conditioning systems as standard features of new commercial buildings, lends weight to this assertion.

At Harveys we are looking for new solutions which generate better results, improve energy efficiency of buildings and reduce the overall impact on the environment.

Projects designed and managed by Harveys such as Quad 4 (ABGR: 5 stars, 5.0 Greenstar), Parkview (5 star energy, 6 star Greenstar), and International House at Barangaroo showcase such features.

One of the greatest challenges lies in the upgrade process, where 85% of existing buildings are more than 10 years old, requiring backers to be convinced of their return on investment to introduce change. It is believed that the introduction of mandatory disclosure of energy consumption in commercial buildings from July 2010 is likely to be a driver for refurbishment.

The world demands of our industry more innovative design and more environmentally friendly outcomes from buildings, facilities and energy systems. Harveys are proving we are up to the challenge.
