Chiller / Cooling Tower Replacements
Harvey Air Conditioning has considerable experience in undertaking refrigerant, component and compressor retrofits and replacement of such items of plant as cooling towers, chillers, package units, hydraulic systems, etc. Our chiller and cooling tower replacements often involved challenging space and relocation considerations, and often take place in buildings which have remained occupied during the process. These major changeovers have been undertaken with minimum disruption to building occupants.
These mechanical upgrades represent a great incentive to building owners, providing significant cost benefits in terms of energy efficiency and improved control systems.
320 Pitt St
This major project undertaken for Lend Lease Developments, encompassed an upgrade of the existing HVAC system to include replacement of outside air VCD’s and cooling coils, removal of old and installation of new chiller, two cooling towers and an upgrade of the BMS system.
The large chiller had a split evaporator and condenser vessel and the four pieces had to be taken to the plantroom via the elevator and the whole chiller reassembled on site.
Work was conducted whilst the building was occupied, with a program for work that could be undertaken during and outside of work hours.
75 Castlereagh St Sydney
This project undertaken for Jones Lang LaSalle involved the decommissioning of the existing water cooled chiller and the installation of a VSD frictionless water cooled chiller. This included a new cathodic protection system for the chiller, modifications to the existing chilled water pipe system, installation of a water treatment system for the condenser water and chilled water systems.
It also included modifications to electrical switchboards and existing controls system and an update of the Building Automation System.
These works were conducted whilst the building remained occupied.
20 Smith St Parramatta
Similar to the above, this project for CBRE involved decommissioning of existing units and installation of a new Powerpax centrifugal chiller, cathodic system, two new Aqaucool cooling towers and all associated works.
All works took place whilst building remained occupied.
Macquarie University
Major works undertaken for a 7 storey commercial office building at Macquarie University, involved the decommissioning, degassing and disposal of an old chiller, and installation of new Powerpax water cooled chillers, cooling tower and significant modifications to the plantrooms, BMS and mechanical switchboards.
50 Margaret St Sydney
This mechanical services upgrade undertaken at 50 Margaret St Sydney, involved the decommissioning and disposal of the old refrigeration based system, and its replacement with two new water based Powerpax chillers, chilled water coils and associated plant.
Seven Hills RSL
Similar to the projects above, Harvey Air Conditioning removed the old refrigerant based system from Seven Hills RSL, replacing it with a new energy efficient water cooled Powerpax system. Additionally greater efficiency was achieved through the replacement of two roof top package units with chilled water air handling units.
Hewlett Packard – Concord Sydney
Harvey Air Conditioning was contracted by ISS Facility Management to undertake the upgrade of the mechanical system at the Hewlett Packard head office in Sydney.
This encompassed the removal of two existing cooling towers and associated plant, with four new inducted draft cooling towers, VSD’s, BMS system, water metering to the condenser water system and all associated works.
